And well. Sanji. I was kidding when I said he’d be sent to an island with no women and no cigarettes but, man. That’s hilarious

It’ll be interesting to see what happens to Robin, Tony, Brooks, and Zoro.

So Ageha, Amamiya, and Hiryuu manage to survive the deserted waste land long enough to get out of there. Immediately afterwards, the two guys get mondo headaches/nosebleeds.

They meet up with Amamiya’s teacher, an alcoholic, world famous pianist, and learn the basics of Psi, Rise, Trance, and Burst. They also learn that Psyren is in fact the world in the future. Nemesis Q is sending them in order to find a way to prevent the outcome.

Through a series of events, they go back to Psyren (with minimal training) and meet up some new comers. Only two of them survive, and those two happen to be the ‘fraidy cat Kabuto, and a movie star, Oboro.

A bunch of things happen, and they meet up with Hiryuu’s long-lost best friend, Tatsuo. Only thing is, he’s been turned into a weird insect-human Tavoo and no longer remembers them. Hiryuu and Ageha reveal their specialties; Hiryuu with a dragon tail-like extension, and Ageha and his Melchelsee’s Door. Ageha’s power goes berserk, but manages to save them. Luckily, Oboro discovers his power of Cure, and fixes heals the injured. Kabuto proves to be useless.

They go back for some serious training (all except for Kabuto who runs off somewhere), and learn how to control their Psi better with the help of some outsiders, and go back. Once in Psyren, they make a startling discovery. Turns out, Kabuto wasn’t completely useless. While the others were training, he was mapping out his Uncle’s bomb shelter, which could supposedly withstand anything. At the shelter, a recording is found. The day that everything fell came on 12/3/2009 by an Organization called W.I.S.E. and their World Rebirth Project. Evidently, they want to turn the world into rubble. Wow, some rebirth that is.

Just as they were making some progress, one of the WISE leaders, Dholaki, finds them and interrogates them. At first they manage to bluff, but when the Dholaki reveals that it’s the end of June 2018, their facade falls apart, and the gang is forced to split up and fight.

Amamiya finally reveals her fighting ability.

Hiryuu discovers that Oboro isn’t the Mr. Nice Guy he claims to be.

Kabuto is found to have an acute perception called Vision.

Too bad Chapter 41 ends just as Ageha is releasing his newly polished attack…

At first when I read Psyren, I though, meh, it’s too similar to a lot of series… It’ll flop. But as the series progresses, new plot twists turn up and the characterization goes deeper. Who knew Hiryuu used to be a shrimpy nerdy kid? For now, I have my suspicions on Oboro. He seems like a pretty shifty guy.

Also, in the past couple chapters, the drawings seem to be more defined. Whether this is the work of the scanners or the mangaka, we’ll never know. Either way, Ageha’s turning out to be a pretty cool main character . He went from useless protagonist to cool and dependable .

Anyhow, I’m betting that if more people read this series, it’d be popular REAL fast. It’s got major potential. We’ll just see how things progress from here

Well, this chapter was a 50 page chapter, perhaps to make up for the lack of release last month.

The battle between Yuuki and Rido continues, but out of nowhere comes Zero riding upon brambles. Zero to the rescue! Not. Zero insists on killing Rido himself, pushing Yuuki out of the way. The school is being torn to pieces in the process.

Meanwhile, Kaname is found in who-knows-where, and has summoned the Council. Using his pure-blood powers, he forces them to kill themselves. (eek!)

Back at the school, Kaname and Zero exchange some threats, Shiki and Rima escape, and Yuuki gets Aidou to calm down the girls of the day class. A bunch of scribbly confusing pages pass, and Rido is killed rather anticlimactically.

The scene changes to Kaname, who goes to deal with Takuma’s grandfather, but Takuma takes care of it.

The chapter then ends with on a Zero vs Yuuki note.

Am I satisfied with this chapter? HECK NO! 50 pages of scribbly work and rushed plot just doesn’t cut it for me. The original artwork was already scribbly, but this? Half of the time it’s unclear who’s who and what’s what…

I’ve always suspected Kaname of being a cold blooded killer, but now Zero too?? Also, Yuuki’s character has changed quite a bit too. Is is just me, or does everyone suddenly seem out of character? The only characters that haven’t changed are the ones you see for half a panel like Aidou.

My hopes of ZeroxYuuki are dashed, but KanamexYuuki seems to have flown out the window as well. Where did this sudden resolve to destroy all pure-bloods suddenly pop out from? Didn’t he resolve to protect Yuuki? Good Ol’ Uncle Rido’s dead, so all’s good and well now right? Yet, the way that Rido died just didn’t cut it for me. It was a rather pitiful, rushed death. I mean, come on, he was able to kill Yuuki’s dad! How is it possible that Zero and his rose-gun was able to kill him just like that? And what were his motives? I’m so confused!! Also, Kaname’s killing of the Council seems rather impromptu. Now that ZeroxYuuki and KanamexYuuki is out, it seems like the only pairing left is… AidouxYuuki… please no.

Boo. I really hate this chapter. The mangaka didn’t have to go as far as making Zero and Yuuki fight. That was just too much. If they want to do that, at least spread it out and give a better reason. Too many things happened too quickly, and there are SO MANY LOOSE ENDS!!

Sorry to say folks, it looks like the ending is near, and so far, it’s a big disappointment.

So I guess Mosquito ended up cutting Kidd’s arm off, and ofcourse the only thing Kidd thinks of is how he is now unsymmetrical. Patty is in Kidd’s hand that is not attached to his body. Mosquito (who is still in his -400 years form) pops up behind Kidd. Mosquito starts talkin’ about Kidd’s sanzu still being incomplete. ‘Whats sanzu?’ you say. All in due time pooky, this is revealed later on in the chapter.

Mosquito blasts Kidd with some lame attack, seriously, Kidd should be dead by now. Liz calls out for Free’s help, but doesn’t recieve an answer. Mosquito starts dissin’ Kidd’s dad (bitch!), Kiddy gets mad. They chat for a couple minutes, and Kidd gets in one of those ‘die stupid bitch, I am justice’ moods.

SO I GUESS BREW JUST DECIDES TO POP OUT OF KIDD? (maybe it didn’t but it did appear in front of him anyways.) Kidd’s soul wavelength begins to swell, goodie. Everyone’s really confused because Brew was supposed to be destroyed.

One of Kidd’s sanzu were connected! Sanzu are the stripes on Kidd’s hair, when they’re complete it appears that the stripe isn’t just on one side, but both. And I guess with sanzu comes some crazy shinigami powers or something, cause he magically reattaches his arm.

Kidd does his ‘stance of punishment’ (?). Mosquito notices Free doing weird movements, but I guess shrugs it off and gets back to ass-kicking (or getting his ass kicked, whatever). Kidd and his girls soul resonance and I guess they lost their kickass huge gun form ;~;. Oh well, now they look kinda different, inscribed with ‘Death Eagle-.42      Death Military Industries’. Liz and Patty are now stronger as well, now being able to shoot 42 soulwidths.

Mosquito now turns into eight thousand bats. Kidd does some mad attack, while Mosquito just does his bat thing, and unfortunately neither were hurt when they exchanged blows.

Turns out when Free was doing weird movements, that was because it was just his projection. Free carried on and destroyed the 8th tower yaahooo. Only 2 towers left, and Mosquito flees to make sure Arachne is protected. Kidd goes after him, and it appears Eibon is happy that Kidd has brew. And then…

Pretty much it for this chapter. I’m sad that this was the end of Kidd’s fight ’cause he’s like the coolest character, but maybe we’ll see some Soul next chapter. I really don’t know where they’re going with this, the plot keeps getting deeper. Oh well, keeps ya hanging anyways.

Yay for a connected sanzu! 9/10

7 Genme wa Himitsu (or 7th period is a secret) is short and sweet. In only 3 chapters we follow dark and gloomy Shun Kawazaki as she faces love, popularity, and who she really is. Shun used to be considered a nerd, but once she found out she was transferring she jumped at the idea to start anew and fit in. In the next 3 months Shun forces herself to smile, know the ‘it-topics’, and read magazines she’s really not interested in. She’s finally been accepted. Although fitting in for once is nice, Shun is very lonely.

Jun Koshiba, Shun’s young and loved teacher, seems to see right through her act of fitting in, which is actually a blessing in disguise for Shun. On the day when the class is to pair up in 3s for the upcoming school trip to Tokyo, Shun arrives late (as she always does), and ends up groupless. Jun assigns her as his own helper instead, which leads to…

So Shun gets a real friend. From here on, Shun prepares for the upcoming trip with Jun. She of course begins falling in love. The two were supposed to spend the free activity time together on the trip, but another student got sick. Shun, knowing what it’s like to be lonely, gives up her time with Jun to take care of the poor sicky who’s name I have forgotten .

Sicky begins to feel a bit better and calls Shun out on being kinder than she normally is, and how she thinks it’s to do with Jun. Sicky asks Shun if she’s crushing on Jun, which Shun vehemently denies. Sicky tells her to go find Jun, who’s actually on his way to come see Shun. The two miss each other, leaving Shun crying again, but in the end Jun pops up and saves the day by taking her to Tokyo Tower.

Shun realizes she is, in fact, in love with Junjun, and accidentally confesses her love to him. This caught the both of them off guard and for the next few days or so it’s incredibly awkward. Shun’s mind is elsewhere and almost falls down the stairs until Jun steps in and saves her.

Hah, guess what? Some yucky looking teachers sees them and confronts them about something going on. Shun tells the teacher it wasn’t Jun’s fault, and that he was only comforting her because she was not getting along with the other girls. Shun’s little friendy-poos just happened to be listening as she said this, and were all very hurt.

Shun fears that her life now will be a repeat of what happened at her last school, and misses the next 3 days of school. Jun was constantly calling her to see if she was alright, and on the third day started throwing rocks at her window. She answers back, and he tells her that she’s fine as she is, and he was happy when she confessed to him.

The next day, Shun apologizes to her friends, who tearily accept it. In class Jun slips her a note saying that they should have a secret 7th period… on the roof!

And I’m not going to spoil the ending, so read this if you have time, its only 3 chapters, and I found it a good read.

The tale of Shirayuki continues…

The last update of Akagami no Shirayuhime was around 5 months ago. During that time, I’d practically given up all hope that the series would ever be fully translated…BUT NEVER FEAR! An update is here! (ok, that was really lame.)

To jot anyone’s memory, the last chapter left us all in suspense. Did Shirayuki make it as a Palace Pharmacist? Well, duh. If she didn’t the story wouldn’t be very long, would it?

Shirayuki and another unimportant person are welcomed as new Palace Pharmacists. It so turns out that Shirayuki’s mentor personally chose her. Who is he? He’s this kid.

Waitwaitwaitwaitwait—What? Since when were 12 year olds allowed to become pharmacists?? As much as I’m perplexed, so are the other characters. Obviously, any kid who’s smart enough to be a pharmacist probably isn’t a big people person. Ryuu finds it so awkward around other people, that constantly pretends to look busy when passing other people, kind of like I do at the mall when those sales people try to rub lotion on your hand or file your nail. I pretend to be texting. Same with Ryuu, except well… They didn’t have cell phones, so he pretends to be reading.

Shirayuki, being the attentive person that she is, finds out that Ryuu’s favorite plant is the Yurashigure, a flower that blooms red, but if planted in an unsuitable area, becomes emits a poison. When she asks about it, Ryuu says that he likes it because it can become a poison, and he is interested in poisons. Of course, he’s lying because there’s a blooming yurashigure mounted on his wall. They continue chatting and Shirayuki befriends Ryuu.

As it turns out, nobody really trusts Ryuu, and have the misunderstanding that he experiments on patients. Shirayuki confronts one of these men, and settles the matter once and for all.

In this chapter, Zen and Shirayuki have their own touching moment together~. Basically, it’s just the reason why Zen’s accustomed to poisons (stated in chapter 1). She reads his poison log, and starts to cry, Ryuu tells the prince, prince goes to comfort her. Why did she cry? I have no idea. Maybe she was afraid he would die from taking poisons…

Anyhow, my favorite part of this chapter is when Shirayuki and the troupe (Zen, Kiki, and Mitsuhide) chat on the lawn. Zen is alarmed to find that Shirayuki’s mentor is a “young man,” only to have his alarm quelled by the fact that “young man” was an overstatement. Somebody’s a little jealous~

Oh the beauty of blossoming love~ Hahaha it’s about time the story progressed . Too bad Zen is still going around calling himself Shirayuki’s bestfriend.

Troy, also called the Vanishing Disease, is transmitted through skin-skin contact. Once within the body, it induces the creation of toxins. Eventually, the body becomes unable to cope and seizures. The individual then vanishes, leaving behind only their clothing.

Although there is no cure, Sisters are special females who possess a high resistance to Troy. By touching a patient, they are able to absorb the toxins and prolong the patient’s life. There’s a catch: Sisters also have Troy, and by treating the patients, are only shortening their own life span. If a Sister continues treating patients, she will eventually die.

Here’s where our protagonists come in. One day, after treating a patient with Troy, Elraine Figarette goes into a seizure. At 16, her body can no longer take the toxins, and she begins to disappear. Just as she is about to collapse, a boy catches her and…slaps her face a couple times… (is that how you treat a dying person?!) But it works. Her seizure stops. As soon as Elraine lets go of him, her seizure begins again. Upon this realization, Elraine drags him along with her to the nearest telephone to report to her superior.

Her superior comes up with an ultimatum; hold his hand forever and you won’t die. It doesn’t matter if you’re sleeping, bathing, or using the toilet. Hold hands. And thus, the story begins.

Elraine (Elle) Figarette has an immensely high resistance to Troy. At the age of 8, She became a certified Sister. While most Sisters are only capable of treating hundreds of patients, Elle has treated thousands. She has become known as the “White Fairy,” and is well known by other members of the Church. Cheery and innocent, Elle works for the greater good of others. At times, she becomes downcast when met with others of similar fates.

The boy, Kili Luchile, is an “ordinary boy” (according to himself). Yeah right. He possesses amazing artistic abilities in various different areas: drawing, cooking, sewing, clothing design, carpentry, etc. When in physical contact with others (skin-skin) he is able to boost their vitality, speed, and strength. (somehow this makes him immune to Troy) This ability is called “Flare.” Personality-wise, Kili is a very nonchalant and indifferent person. He pursues only what he thinks is fun, and has no real passion, that is until he met Elle.

Kili and Elle must make it to the Church’s main headquarters, so that Kili can be analyzed so that a possible cure can be derived. Along the way, they meet the bad guys, Gazelles, Kili’s monstrously strong childhood friend/ex-girlfriend Sui, a couple other sisters, an alcoholic fortune teller with various aliases, and a martial arts master Fallan Denzell.

The sisters only serve to further characterize Elle, and the fortune teller to Fallan.

The Gazelles, are revealed to be a group of assassins who oppose the Church. Reason? Unknown. Little is known about them except for the fact that they target Sisters, and there are 11 original members. They seem to be bound to the Boss by a promise.

Because the Gazelles are after Kili and Elle, Sui tags along because of her obsession of fighting strong opponents. Until she met Fallan, she had never been defeated. It is also stated that she has never defeated Kili, but only because he always ran away. Her weapon is some crazy looking metal hula hoop.

In their quest to find a bodyguard, the pair is referred to martial arts master Fallan. He refuses, having made a promise with someone in his past to only fight for himself.

However, despite his cold demeanor, Fallan agrees to teach Kili and Elle a method of fighting, Double Arts (oh hey look, it’s the title!). Double Arts is a combination of dancing and a series of coordinated kicks, throws, and turns. Surpassing Fallan’s standards, the duo manages to master it in a couple of days.

I personally thought this manga had great potential. It doesn’t rush into the characters, and all of them have an enigmatic background.

Elle, unlike most heroines, doesn’t crumble at the first sight of danger. She is willing to sacrifice herself for a chance to change the world. Kili on the other hand, is the exact opposite. For years, he lived life on a whim, without convictions. Whenever Elle threatens to sacrifice herself, Kili becomes angry (hinthintnudgenudge). Together, they make a great pair.

Also, unlike most shounen these days, Double Arts contains NO ECCHI. I know right? Unbelievable! It’s a miracle, it truly is. Being female, I truly appreciate a series that has no ecchi. I really do.

Plus, the plot line progresses slowly but surely. It doesn’t rush directly into the problem. Nonetheless, the story was cut short because of declining popularity, leaving many unanswered questions.
1. Just what where the 4 races of humans???
2. What race is Kili?
3. What is the nature of Troy and why are the Gazelles after Sisters? What is their true objective?
4. Is the promise that the Gazelles are bound by related to the promise Fallan made?
5. Just how old is Fallan?!?
6. How did they cure Troy?
7. WHAT HAPPENED? (did they ever get married? )

The series ends with Elle writing in her diary, stating that she has written enough of the story for now, and she may write more later. Hopefully this means the mangaka will start it up again (pleaseee?)

One more thing. Near the end, Elle realizes her feelings towards Kili, and to some extent, confesses by saying that she did not want their journey to end. Shortly afterwards, the audience finds out that the real reason why Kili stayed with Elle during the journey wasn’t because he had finally found something worth doing, but because he had fallen in love with Elle at first sight. (that conniving little…) But anyways, SQUEEE~ KilixElraine!! Maybe they’ll have a happy family and have kids with sticky-uppy green hair (blue+yellow=green)

It’s too bad the manga ended early. I was honestly distraught when it ended. Boo for popularity standards.

It’s a mushroom monster!! Is this what happens to everyone who gets touched by Bartholomew Kuma???

Uh, no. It’s not. Luffy just happened to go crazy eat-testing all the random mushrooms growing on the island. Moral of the story? Don’t eat random stuff.

So Luffy flies through the air for -who knows how long- and lands on a tropical isle. He eats some swirly mushrooms, and ends up like… well you saw it up there. It turns out, the island is composed of only women; the women have never seen a man before.

I only have one thing to say. Luffy, run. Fast. Since they thought his you know what in the you know where was a mushroom, chances are they’re going to castrate him.

I have a hypothesis of what happens to the people that Bartholomew Kuma touches. They most likely get sent to a place where they encounter things that are totally unfamiliar with them, therefore…

Luffy: Island of Women (duh, it’s in the chapter). I bet he doesn’t know the first thing about women.

Zoro: A place filled with totally unsharp, blunt items. Or maybe a maze. A totally round, smooth maze where alcohol does not exist.

Nami: An island full of idiots, haha.

Usopp: The world’s biggest Lie Detector Test Factory.

Sanji: Uhh… A place with no women, fish, or cigarettes??? I have no idea.

Chopper: The desert.

Robin: A box… Because I don’t know, and boxes don’t have written histories

Franky: The land of Au Natural, where nothing is artificial and machines definitely don’t exist.

Brooke: He’s really dead.

Of course, I’m joking. If that where to really happen, I’d laugh (and cry a little on the inside). Hopefully the crew will get back together. Which leads me to this question: Who’s stupid idea was it to go to Mermaid land in the first place?!?

Beauty Pop is one of the only manga I’m actually dedicated to buying, so aside from this post, all of the other pictures here will be scanned by me.

Kiri Koshiba (also known as Mussy Head) is a very absent minded girl who is the definition of ‘cool as a cucumber’. She is an amazing hairstylist who will help any girl who has confidence or hair problems by giving them ‘a little magic’. She has had no intentions of pursuing a career as a hair stylist since she accidently cut her Mother’s ear while giving her a haircut. She was mentally scarred and it took awhile for her to even be able to pick up a pair of scissors again.

The Scissor Project (or ‘SP’) are a group of teenage boys with the dream of creating the best beauty salon in Japan.  The SP consists of 3 boys (but soon expands to a team of six) who are all exceptionally skilled beauticians.

Narumi Shogo (or NaruNaru) is a prince like bishounen who thinks he is the #1 hair stylist (and is until Kiri comes along), and has a very short temper (especially when it comes to Kiri xD). Deep down he has a kind heart, and he is a hard worker when it comes to hair styling. The Narumi family owns Japans #1 hair salon, ‘Salon de Narumi’. Narumi is the club leader.

Ochiai Kazuhiko manages the clubs funds, promotions, members and he is the makeup artist of the group. He is very intelligent and his family owns a makeup company. He ends up falling in love with Kiri without knowing it, and when he ‘accidently’ takes a picture of her with his phone he begins to realise… but no, I highly doubt the pairing will be OchiaixKiri.

Minami Kei is the Nail Artist of the SP. It’s said that if Kei does your nails with a love charm, your love with most definately accept your feeling (unless he spells it wrong xD;). Kei is the announcer for all the SP events. He loves to eat sweets and junk food, and not too much is known about him other than that.

The Scissors Project hand picks certain girls at their school to makeover. They give the girl a haircut, Manicure/Nail Art and makeup.

Pretty soon the SP starts to see Kiri (who they know as ‘X’) as a rival. Kiri is soon pulled back into the world of hair styling over a series of events that somehow leads her to join the SP.

The SP expands to 6 people; Kiri, NaruNaru, Kei, Ochiai, and 2 of Kiri’s childhood friends, Seki Kenichiro, and Minamoto Iori.  The SP comes over a number of challenges, and in the more recent chapters are being targeted by NaruNaru’s own father.

So does any of this sound familiar?

Can you say Ouran? Here are my comparisons.

Kiri vs Haruhi: Both of them are pretty absentminded and ‘whatever’. These two were both dragged into their clubs against their will (kind of). These two also both fall for their prince types.

NaruNaru vs Tamaki: Both of them are blonde, princelike types who are the heads/leaders/kings of their respective clubs.

Ochiai vs Kyouya: Both of them are ‘shadow kings’. The ones who make the clubs run smoothly. Their looks are EXTREMELY similar aswell. The part that lacks, however, are Ochiai’s feelings for Kiri. Kyouya does not seem to possess any romantic feelings for Haruhi period.

Kei vs Hunny: Well, both of them are energetic, both of them love sweets/junkfood, both of them are adorable.

Seki vs Mori: Um, aside from the similar names (o_O woah), these two are both very protective of their friends, they look alike, and they’re both quiet characters.

I also found Iori and Tamaki were alike, but other than that I couldn’t find a character too much like him.

The SP vs The Host club: Both clubs are dedicated to making girls happy. Both of them are pretty reverse harem aswell, considering the girls who seem to have members falling for them left and right. Both groups are ‘soldiers of justice’ (lulz sailor moon reference).

Also, in the more recent chapters of Ouran, Tamaki’s grandmother seems to be targetting the host club (more or less), and in BP NaruNaru’s father is trying to break the SP up. Both manga are also around the same point aswell, so it will be interesting to see how the two turn out.

Overall, this is a great manga. I highly suggest you read it, especially if you liked Ouran. Yes, the similarities are uncanny, but the story overall is different.

In case you were wondering, I’m 99% positive the pairing will be NaruNaruxKiri.
