Naruto Chapter 416 [Natural Log]

Naruto’s safe and well, finishing his sage training, but what’s become of Sasuke?

Before I being, let me make a small note. There is no way in the world I am summarizing chapters 1-415. It’s just too much to ask for, and plus if you’re reading this one, chances are, you’ve caught up on Naruto.

As Naruto’s learned to control his sage powers (to some extent), he begins reading Jiraiya’s book: The Legend of the Gutsy Ninja. The story (from the 5 pages that we get to read) is of a ninja battling another to protect his village. It seems insignificant enough, until you dig a little deeper. The book itself was Jiraiya’s message, his will to come to understand people and overcome hatred. Deep words for a pervy sage, eh? In some aspects, it carries a sentimental feel; I mean come on, he died.

On the other hand, Sasuke’s finished up capturing Killerbee, the 8-tailed Jinchuuriki.

At this point, I’m wondering… Why is it that the other Jinchuuriki (other than Naruto and Gaara) are able to control their tailed forms yet remain human? Wasn’t it said that if Naruto or Gaara succumbed to the power, they would be overcome? The 2 and 8-tailed Jinchuuriki seem to have no problems… Did the mangaka not think of this earlier? However, this is not intended to be a plot-hole exploiter, so I won’t go any further with this.

Sasuke drops off Killerbee, and is confronted by Tobi (Madara) about his motives (or maybe it’s a flash back, I’m not quite sure). Not only does Sasuke intend to kill the 3 elders of Konoha, he intends to completely eradicate it because of when they had done to Itachi. This reminds me of a commonly disputed controversy. Is it right to kill off one innocent person in order to save the lives of others? In this case, it seems that Itachi chose the sacrificial one-person road…Which led to an angsty emo Sasuke. Charming.

Personally, I think of his decision to eradicate all of Konoha was rather abrupt. In the previous chapter, Sasuke saved his “friends” while thinking of the old Team 7. This mislead me to believe there was a possible reconciliation and a fairy tale happy ending!…kidding… But seriously, it’s rather paradoxical. In the end, all good stories have a theme right? The main point of this chapter? Love can lead to hate. Poor Sasuke. Maybe he’s bipolar.

I agree with you. i think Sasuke, deep way deep inside of him, still has a heart.. He still loves Konoha, but he just doen’t know how to react after killing his brother.. Poor him..

😛 I was being a little sarcastic about the angsty Sasuke part, but… I guess the mangaka is just trying to throw us off by making Naruto and Sasuke fight yet again. Perhaps to say the friendship is not going to be salvaged?
